Business Plan 2026-27
Our annual business plan for 2026/27 sets out our strategic priorities and the work we expect to do this year.
HMCPSI has a statutory duty to independently inspect the work of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Serious Fraud Office (SFO). Our work is fundamental to improving the criminal justice system and help maintain public trust.
In setting the plan and priorities, we considered all the responses received following our consultation on the proposed long list of inspection and our limited resources. The inspection programme is therefore challenging and ambitious, prioritising those inspections which will add most value.
For 2026-27, inspections will focus on victims’ experiences, violence against women and girls, and the operation of the criminal justice system. The selected inspections provide independent evidence for holding the CPS and SFO to account and help inform the public about their performance. This business plan outlines inspection topics for the next 12 to 18 months, with some extending beyond March 2027.
