The inspection aimed to assess how well the criminal justice system meets the needs of victims, from when a victim reports an offence to after the offender has been convicted .
Research was also commissioned from an independent organisation, Crest Advisory, to help us understand the experience of victims in the criminal justice system.
HMCPSI has conducted a follow-up inspection into the CPS’s handling of custody time limits. The inspectorate found that although there was some evidence of good practice, two of the recommendations made in the 2021 inspection report have not been fully embedded.
HMCPSI has conducted a thematic inspection of CPS’s induction processes for new prosecutors. The Inspectorate found that the CPS has developed and continues to support and deliver a comprehensive legal induction programme.
