Victim Communication and Liaison scheme: letters to victims

Published:
Open document

This inspection looks at the effectiveness of the CPS’s communication with victims of crime. It is a follow-up to an inspection report published in November 2018 on the same topic. Since then, the CPS has accepted our recommendations, published an action plan and started taking actions and making changes.

Because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the main source of evidence for this inspection was a file sample of 490 letters. We also conducted a limited number of interviews with Area Business Managers and Victim Liaison Unit managers.

By comparing the results of the two inspections, this follow-up aims to assess the effectiveness of the actions and changes the CPS has put in place since the 2018 inspection.
